Mirmama : Eddi Reader

I could play this album now for the house to hear and my sons would go straight back to their childhood.

It was on max vol almost every day.

Two songs stick with me. Even now.

Cinderella’s Down – I swear like a soldier and I’m miles too tall.

What You Do With What You’ve Got –

Between those who use their neighbours
And those who use a cane
Between those in constant power
And those in constant pain
Between those who run to evil
And those who cannot run
Tell me which ones are the cripples
And which ones touch the sun?

Patience of Angels

Oh, Lily – I still don’t feel safe.

Gabriel before me
Raphael behind me
Michael to my right
Uriel on my left side
In the circle of fire

I’ve always had a soft spot for URIEL. This angel can be a he or a she.

Uriel/ˈjʊəriəl/ or Auriel (Hebrew: אוּרִיאֵל ʾŪrīʾēl, “Flame of God[5][6]” or “El/God is my flame[7][8]“; Greek: Οὐριήλ OúriēlCoptic: ⲟⲩⲣⲓⲏⲗ Ouriēl;[9]ItalianUriele;[10]Geʽez and Amharic: ዑራኤል ʿUraʾēl[11] or ዑርኤል ʿUriʾēl)[12] is the name of one of the archangels who is mentioned in the post-exilicrabbinic tradition and in certain Christian traditions. He is well known in the Russian Orthodox tradition (which considers him to be one of the seven major archangels) and recognized in the Anglican Church as the 4th archangel. He is also well known in European esotericmedieval literature. Uriel is also known as a master of knowledge and archangel of wisdom.

There’s a door in a wall in a house in a street
In a town where no-one knows her name
She’s the patience of angels

I’m no angel. But I’m on their side :o)

No. No. No. Go away Robbie Williams. Fingers in ears and not listening!!!

All or Nothing : The Patron Saints of Imperfection

This is where Eddi Reader entered my life. This album. She’s stayed ever since.

I whistled a tune called ‘lazy’ and I tiptoed a very tight line
All of the time walking backwards, all of the time I was blind
And the only voice I was hearing was yours inside my head
Saying “Get yourself back to the kitchen, girl, one true move and you’re dead”

But I found out it’s all or nothing

That’s me in a nutshell.

Give me ALL – you get the same.

Give me NOTHING – ditto.

I do NOT do small, superfluous, half-hearted, easy, instant gratification.

:o)

The Difference IS Night & Day

I’ve been in the wrong place long enough to know…I’m in the right place now.

Good old Eddi Reader – my muse and mentor.

After so long in a place full of pure toxicity, ego, pride, negativity and truly nasty vibe peeps, everything has shifted for me. Woohooooo
!

I’m back with a childhood love and skill and the doors are all opening into light filled rooms with wonderful people who want nothing more than to help me. Such a beautiful release.

I tried EVERYTHING humanly possible to flip the script of a certain arena but the bulls were RAMPANT and completely closed off to my vibe. Heyho. You live. You LEARN.

Today is another day. Today is LIGHT & LOVE & FRIENDSHIP :o)

My New Hairdresser : Maud the Cat

This cat is so sweet. And funny.

Every night she jumps on my pillow and starts kneading my head and purring. It gets a bit painful – jabby claws – but I don’t have the heart to stop her.

And every morning I wake up with a freshly styled beehive.

People around me find it very amusing. The other morning I snapped – OK. So, I look like her. That girl. The one with big hair. Singer. No longer here. Bee-hive. What’s-her-face.

Amy Winehouse, love?

Oh. Errm. Yes. Her name just escaped me for the moment….Need coffee :o(

I know this song via Eddi Reader and didn’t realise, until much later, that Amy had written it.

What You Do With What You’ve Got

You must know someone like him
Who was tall and strong and lean
With a body like a greyhound
And a mind so sharp and keen
But his heart, just like a laurel
Grew twisted round itself
Till almost everything he did
Brought pain to someone else

It’s not just what you’re born with
It’s what you choose to bear
It’s not how big your share is
It’s how much you can share
It’s not the fights you dreamed of
It’s those you really fought {ah-wah}
It’s not what you’ve been given
It’s what you do with what you’ve got

What’s the use of two strong legs
If you only run away
And what’s the use of the finest voice
If you’ve nothing good to say now, ah
What’s the use in strength and muscle
If you only push and shove
And what’s the use of two good ears
If you can’t hear those you love
Oh what’s the use of two strong legs
If you only run away
And what’s the use of the finest voice
Hah-ee-ah, hah-ee-ah
What’s the use in strength and muscle
If you only push and shove
And what’s the use of two good ears
If you can’t hear those you love

Between those who use their neighbours
And those who use the cane
Between those in constant power
And those in constant pain
Between those who run to glory
And those who cannot run
Tell me which ones are the cripples
And which ones touch the sun?

Which ones touch the sun
