The image above is of one of the last Annual Horse Fairs in my local town.
It’s a haunting image because very little has changed. The canal, the bridge and all those buildings are still here.
Appleby Horse Fair is much more famous nowadays but I know that the Rom came here too. You cannot disconnect Gypsy and Horse. Remember that last sentence. It connects so much history.
Britain is small and easily traversed. Imagine travelling the likes of The Silk Road ?
Going into two men on a horse protecting pilgrims on the way to “Jerusalem” may be going a bit too far, too soon :o)
