I’ve just side-swiped another attempted death.

The piano HAS to moved and He and Me were meant to do it today. But after yesterday’s debacle with another piece of heavy furniture – I changed my mind.

The stupid thing is….I’m not insured :o)

Anyway.

Tontine. This loopy legal legitimate legislation has been in operation for a long time.

It became the perfect plot theme for many a Gothic Horror.

At it’s most basic – a Tontine can be used in any Last Will & Testament. It states that all named in the tontine will be beneficiaries under another named person’s tontine.

It’s tricky. Because the last surviving member of a tontine will collect ALL of the money from every one else’s Life Insurance.

I’ve been painting furniture this morning with Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce.

I adore these Sherlock Holmes films. They are VERY loosely based on Conan Doyle’s stories but have their own intrinsic charm.

Today is The House of Fear.

Based on The Five Orange Pips, it uses the concept of a Tontine in an extremely clever way :o)
