I have such a hard time defining these two so I’ll just use them both for the subjects of Vampires and Werewolves. dot LLC.
I’m a horror film/Gothic Novel fan. This genre fascinates me. Why?
Because I equate it to plain and simple Myth/Legend – which is allegory. Or maybe metaphor.
SMH. Whatever.
In simple English – IT IS NOT REAL.
I’ll start in the 12th century with Gerald of Wales and Geoffrey of Monmouth.
Both wrote Histories of Britain.
I’m more familiar with Gerald who was the grandson of Nest ferch Rhys, the daughter of Rhys ap Tewdwr, sister of Gruffydd ap Rhys, sister-in-law of Gwenllian ferch Gruffyd and lover of Henry I, youngest son of William the Bastard Conqueror.
Gerald wrote about the Ossory Werewolves and Geoffrey wrote about someone called Arthur.
East Europe is full of myths of vampires.
So we have an entire Hidden History of death and destruction via woowoo strange beings.
I’ll throw a demon or satan or zombie or two into the mix aswell.
FFS.
Imagination is a GLORIOUS gift but it’s not perfect. As a kid, when my mother had frog-marched to the hairdresser and had all my hair cut off, I’d sleep with my teddy over my ear. Just in case – maybe – an unwanted visitor entered.
I still do it now in my sleep. But with my hair. It’s an ATAVISTIC FEAR.
Body Language 101 : folded arms, you are not going to enter my heart-truth.
So now we have murder trials featuring teenage “vampires” who live in the dark and kill to suck blood. Because they are so effed up and programmed by TV and drugs and society that they can NOT recognise fantasy or allegory or metaphor.
YES. There ARE demons and werewolves and devils and zombies and vampires around us. But they are ALL HUMAN BEINGS………without a soul or a faith or a conscience.
Demons – Cross or Bell, Book, Candle
Werewolves – Silver Bullet
Devils – Cross or Bell, Book, Candle
Zombies – something stabbed in the brain
Vampires – Garlic, Sun, Stake in the Heart, Beheading.
If in doubt….just press the OFF button.
Simples.
