We have just received an electricity bill for over £2,000. More than our monthly wage.

Our Crime : Missing December’s payment.

The letter said pay within x amount of days or we will….!

Is blackmail a crime in UK?

Blackmail can be a very serious offence which has strict rules in the UK. Section 21 of the Theft Act 1968. The act explains UK blackmail law, in legal terms, to be when one makes unwarranted demands with menaces in order to attain personal gain or project loss on another.

There is no way on God’s Green Earth that we used £2,000 of electricity in December.

Our home is heated by oil and wood. My husband is a very annoying light-switcher-offer.

How did a utility bill jump from £300 to £2,000 in one month.

Of course, I got right on my high horse and started shouting about being held to ransom and blackmailed and I’m going to take the UK Gov to court and all that jazz.

P.S. Great way to kill off all those old and useless peasants and a few more decent people in the UK…!
