I’m Gothic.
Disclaimer ?
I also write back to front….metaphorically speaking :o0
Poe is a fave, though I’m NO expert on his work. I just know a handful of the stories.
And I feel that his “themes” are extremely relevant to life today.
“The Tell-Tale Heart” is a first-person narrative told by an unnamed narrator. Despite insisting that they are sane, the narrator suffers from a disease (nervousness) which causes “over-acuteness of the senses“.
Personal Opinion, only.
So very much is given away by a word, a look, a Freudian-slip, a song quoted, a thin-lipped smile, an emotionless truth aka LIE.
Once upon a time it was believed that the heart was the centre of thought and emotion. Then we were “enlightened” via I THINK, Therefore I am.
Wow. The video below is a threefer me. Basil Rathbone. Vincent Price. Poe.
Voices are ESSENTIAL in my life. I’ve spent money on audiobooks narrated by voices that I can’t bear to listen to. I’ve watched yt videos with voices I can’t bear to listen to.
Both Rathbone and Price have WONDERFUL voices.
I’m choosy :o)
