Going back to Godiva and Tupholme Abbey.
A TUP is a randy male sheep…a RAM.
A HOLME is a piece of land that often gets flooded by the local river.
Tupholme Abbey, or the ruins of – to this day – is by the River Witham and is grazed by sheep who escaped the regular floods. I’ve seen this with mine own eyes.
It’s a lovely spot on my doorstep.
