History of Henry Bolingbroke

aka Henry IV.

Father of Henry V – Once More Unto the Breach.

I live about 5 miles away from Bolingbroke Castle and have been there many times.

It is TINY. Just a pile of stones.

Apparently – according to MS History – Charles d’Orleans, captured at Agincourt by Henry V and beloved of Jehanne d’Arc (though he wrote nary a word about her in his many writings) spent time here as a prisoner.

The castle was supposedly destroyed by Oliver Cromwell in the English Civil War. It’s a hop and a short car drive from Winceby Battlefield.

Katherine Swynford (tomb in Lincoln Cathedral) is also meant to have lived here for a while. A lady in waiting to her lover’s wife.

So much BS. Too much for me to deal with right now.
