A Turn in the Weather

My word. I have such wonderful memories of this meal and Bonfire Night.

Remember, Remember, the 5th of November. Gunpowder, treason and plot.

Always cold. Usually tiddling down with rain. Often a gale force wind but F U N.

The bonfire used to built days before with people adding wood as and when. The kids would help to make the guy who sits on top waiting to be burned in effigy.

Then came the food. Pulling potatoes wrapped in foil out of the fire or trying to get second/third helpings of stew from the pot.

This is why us Brits have absolutely no trouble having a summer garden barbeque in the pouring rain. Guy Fawkes trained us …LOL.

I’m making this today. The ultimate comfort food on a cold and rainy and grey day. Yum :o)

P.S. And if there is any left over (???) it will taste even better tomorrow – the 5th.
