Deacon Brodie aka William Brodie

Billy Connolly made a film where he was the lead character.

I remember watching it but…YT video not !

Anyhoo and by the by the by.

RLS has a connection with Brodie.

Robert Louis Stevenson’s father owner furniture made by Brodie, and the author also wrote a play about him.

He seems to have been the inspiration for The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, published in 1886.

Deacon Brodie’s Tavern on the Royal Mile is named after the thief, with the sign outside showing his dual personality. A bar in New York is also named after him.

The Royal Mile is a hill up to the castle. BTW.
