Writing 101 : SHOW, Don’t Tell

Cold. Cold. Cold.

That’s all I feel when I watch certain yt videos. COLD!

The mouth is talking non-stop – TELLING – but the show is so deeply hidden.

As in “The Words Belie The Truth.”

In my humble opinion, Dorothy Dunnett was the best modern SHOW, DON’T TELL writer.

GordonBennett – you have to WORK punking hard to understand what she is showing you.

Video is a strange medium. Words and pictures all at once. BUT – there is always something hidden. Behind a gesture or (more importantly) behind something said but NEVER shown.

A writer must know that thin line between the words and the actions that we ALL use.

Apparently, Joan Crawford (actress) could cry on command. She’d ask the director which eye he preferred the tears to fall from.

COLD FRONTS HIDE MANY SECRETS :o)
