We got burgled a few years back. A true cause and effect sitch.
The cause was me saving my friend, Peter’s, life. He owned the crystal shop a few seconds walk from our house and rang me early one morning : Jackie. I need you.
So I ran to him and found a man with both his implanted heart pacemaker and his heart defibrillator going mentals.
Anyhoo. He was rushed to hospital and later that night, in the dark, he rang for me to go to Boston and bring him home. I did. BUT, the so-called Winter Disease was in full action and the night after I was sick. sick.sick.
Come Tuesday morning. I was comatose Monday night after being so ill the night before.
Complicated. His NDE was Saturday. I was ill all Sunday night, very tired Monday. Tuesday morning found the house ransacked.
Unbeknownst to me, that Monday evening, my son and my ward (his best mate) had gone to the shops about 9pm and forgotten to lock the doors.
The burglary was done by an opportunist druggie in search of easy cash.
He was caught eventually and sent to prison. We were one of four houses looted that night. Almost a year later the policepeeps gave us all our stuff back apart from the laptops…there were just receipts from CashConverters in Lincoln.
The point?

The boys were mortified but it’s a mistake all of us can make. Yes?
