If I’m ever fortunate to rescue another female cat, guess what I’ll call her?

Maud/Matilda was named after her mother, Matilda of Scotland.

She was the rightful heir to the throne of England after the deaths of her Daddy, Henry I and her brother, William on The White Ship.

But her cousin, Stephen was having none of that. So Britain was thrown into a Bloody Civil War. ANARCHY IN THE UK :o)

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle (and Sharon Penman) coined the phrase well.

When Christ and His Saints Slept.
